Tom Lonergan
Tom Lonergan was drafted by the Cats in 2002, playing out the entirety of his twelve AFL seasons here in Geelong. A defensive stalwart throughout his career, Lonergan played an especially key role in Geelong’s premiership-winning season in 2011. He transitioned to development roles after retiring from the field in 2017, working first with the Calder Cannons, then the Geelong Falcons, before joining the Carlton Football Club as talent and development manager in 2023. For the duration of each of these roles, he remained resident in Geelong and maintained his ties to the local community. In 2025 it was announced that Lonergan would be returning to the Cats as Assistant Recruiting Manager.
