Trish Fallon could make a serious claim to being Geelong’s greatest ever basketball player, her resumé all the more impressive given she didn’t start playing the game until the age of fourteen. Her professional career unfolded across the WNBL in Australia and the WNBA in the United States. The former began in 1989, entailing seasons with AIS, the Melbourne Tigers, and the Sydney Flames; the latter in 1999, suiting up for the Minnesota Lynx and Phoenix Mercury. Fallon was a four-time WNBL All-Star, and was named League Co-MVP for the 1999/00 season. She won an Olympic bronze medal for Australia in 1996 and a silver medal in 2000, winning another silver medal as captain of the team in 2004. Such a resumé is all the more impressive, given she didn’t start playing the game until the age of fourteen, here in Geelong. Fallon was inducted into the Basketball Australia Hall of Fame in 2010.
