As a player, analyst, and coach, Dan Lowther has formed an active part of the football community in Geelong for nearly thirty years. Drafted to the Cats in 1995, he played six seasons before becoming more closely involved with the local football scene. Lowther’s coaching experience spans the breadth of elite football in Geelong, including stints with the Geelong Falcons, Geelong’s VFL program, and Geelong’s AFL program. He became the second ever head coach of the Geelong Cats AFLW team in 2021, a position he held for five seasons. Lowther’s tenure as head coach involved consecutive finals appearances in 2022 and 2023, as well as the broader strengthening of women’s football in the Geelong region.
